Data Storage and Management
The Computational Medicine Center specializes in high-security, regulatory compliant storage of clinical and genomic data. Our certified systems administrators have developed an outstanding infrastructure of supercomputer hardware and network storage, and our software architects and engineers continue to work on novel ways of organizing and mining data such as web-based patient registries and biological sample repositories. If you are interested in using the center's resources, contact us.
Regional Tier IV Data Center
The center is currently constructing a new regional data center that includes a 5,000 sf Tier IV data center. Based on the Uptime Institutes standard, a Tier IV data center has multiple active power and cooling distribution paths, has redundant components, is fault tolerant and has 99.995% availability.
Secure, Web-based Patient Registries
The center has developed several secure registries for collecting, organizing and analyzing data from patient populations. Via a web interface, investigators can use these registries to assess the effectiveness of preventive and therapeutic treatments for cystic fibrosis, diabetes, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions.
Biological Sample Storage and Tracking
The center has developed several applications for tracking and annotating biological samples. Via the World Wide Web, investigators can request new services from the labs and track the status of their requests. Using PDAs, lab managers can:
- Scan barcoded samples
- Annotate any activities performed
- Synchronize with a centralized database
Lab personnel also can run customized reports including inventory and dispense summaries.
